Students at the Honesdale High School who are enrolled in the Accounting or General Office/Typing curriculum now have the opportunity to take part in the Vocational Internship Program. The program was developed through the Carl Perkins Act Participatory Planning Commission which includes members of the Honesdale business community, faculty members of the Business/Vocation Ed. department, and school administrators.

The purpose of the Internship Program is to provide students with "on-the-job" skills to be integrated with their high school education that will qualify these students with the entry-level skills necessary to enter the work force upon graduation. Students who are enrolled will earn up to one credit toward graduation requirements. Each student must work a minimum of sixty hours per semester at their worksite. Each employer assigns a site supervisor who provides the students with job training that will enhance his/her skills in the vocational area chosen.

Students must keep a daily log of their on-site training and job responsibilities. Based on written evaluations from the site supervisors and school adviser, students will be graded on their performance twice each semester.
